Huizhou is located in the northeast of Hong Kong and Shenzhen and on the east coast of the GBA. It is one of the city clusters of the GBA which has seen rapid economic development.
The Port of Huizhou, which opened in the 1990s, is an important regional entrepôt and export point. In 2019, the cargo throughput handled in Huizhou jurisdiction surpassed the 100 million-TEU mark for the first time, signalling that Huizhou Port officially stepped into the ranks of China’s largest coastal ports. Logistics and distribution companies move goods to and from Huizhou to Guangdong’s major population centers and Hong Kong in less than three hours via freight rail and road networks.
The 3C electronics and petrochemicals industries have witnessed vibrant development in Huizhou, accounting for a combined 63% of Huizhou’s value-added industrial output. Huizhou is home to two major industrial parks, which are populated by many information technology companies.
